Expert Tour Guide
Theatrical costumier by trade. Worked in film and theatre industry. Avid history buff. An enthusiatic Guide and Ranger Leader in Girlguiding Renfrewshire. Enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community. Currently project supervisor for Renfrewshire Witch Hunt 1697. Busy giving walks and talks on the Witch Trials of Paisley or taking photographs of war memorials all over the country. Relaxs by reading, making art and meeting dogs.
Favourite Building: 1 High St. Old Bank of Scotland building with the turret. I stand at the bus stop looking at it every week. Listed Cat. B and it is disintegrating. One of too many listed building that Paisley will lose unless something is done.
Favourite History Story: Of course the 3 Paisley Witch Trials and the 2 Paisley Witch Hunts. A dark and sordid history that the thread industry was built on.
Wish for Paisley: Hmmm The retail industry that we knew is dead. Big retail shop units are now empty and fossiling. I believe Paisley's future is the Heritage & third sector. Have small & medium, affordable retail units for unique sole traders and businesses. Units specifically for non-profit charities and community groups. Units and spaces dedicated to the creative and arts sectors of all sizes. Leave Glasgow, Braehead & Silverburn to fight amongst themselves for the limited retail market. Paisley can be unique and attract day trippers, tourists, historians, creatives etc.
